Pune Skyline 2050 – A Deep Study of Every Aspect is Essential

Pune is changing fast.
With a booming IT sector, thriving industries, world-class education, and a climate people love, the city’s population is growing at record speed. But if this pace continues, what will Pune actually look like in 2050? That was the big question at ‘Pune Skyline 2050’, an event hosted recently at the J.W. Marriott Hotel by Wide Angle Forum. The message was clear if we want a sustainable, well-planned city in the future, the time to act is now.
Founder Priya Gokhale set the tone, stressing the need for early planning around future essentials water, electricity, roads, metro, public transport, pedestrian spaces, festivals, food streets, parking, and high-rise construction. “Start the groundwork today, and we can avoid tomorrow’s crises,” she said. The event brought together architects, engineers, builders, urban planners, and government officials for an open discussion on:
Architects Radhika Vaidya, Rohit Sardesai, and Vikas Achalkar, along with builders Nilesh Bohra, Tejaraj Patil, and Himanshu Agarwal, added perspectives on parking solutions, glass-façade trends, and the growing demands of citizens.
The event ended with a sense of urgency but also optimism. Experts agreed that with collaboration between citizens, professionals, and authorities, Pune can grow without losing its soul. As a token of appreciation, all guests received books authored by Prakash Medhekar. The evening was hosted by Priya Gokhale, with a vote of thanks from Medhekar himself.
Pune 2050 will be what we choose to build today. The city’s future isn’t just in the hands of planners and builders it’s in all of ours.
